In the Fall semester, individual participants will discuss critical thinking as it relates to their academic discipline.
In the Spring semester,
Fall 2019
Meeting 1: Discuss approaches and methods of teaching critical thinking in various disciplines. Discuss CT class assignments to be designed by new members.
Meeting 2: Members discuss their critical thinking assignment ideas and receive feedback. CT presentation topics and outlines are shared. Targeted audiences are discussed and identified. Request for presentation opportunities.are launched.
Meeting 3: Members discuss assessment process for newly designed critical thinking assignments and receive feedback. Responses to presentation opportunities are reviewed and dates for Spring presentations are set.
Meeting 4: Discuss newly designed CT assessments and upcoming CT presentations.

- Members will identify, modify, or create one assignment to teach critical thinking, and devise assessment procedures that they will discuss and refine with the group.
- Critical Thinking presentations will be designed to share various approaches of integrating critical thinking skills into classroom curriculum.
In the Spring semester,
- Members introduced in the Fall, will teach and evaluate their recently designed critical thinking assignments in a class and discuss problems and refinement with the group. They will write a brief reflection piece about the process.
- Critical Thinking presentations designed in the Fall will be presented to faculty groups in the Spring semester.

- Meeting 1: New members introduced in Fall bring a course syllabus that includes the new or refined assignment to discuss how it fits into the course curriculum as a whole. CT presentations are presented to faculty groups and access to Job Description database is shared..
- Meeting 2: New members have assigned and evaluated the assignment; compare notes. CT presentations are presented to faculty groups.
- Meeting 3: New members share reflection on the process. These brief reflections can include thoughts about how the institute affected teaching, thoughts on how to make the institute more effective, and advice for future participants. CT presentations are presented to faculty groups.
- Meeting 4: Discuss, evaluate and plan for future endeavors.
